Hannah Flowers
A stranger told me once
There are many ways to tell someone
You love them without saying the words
I think about that every time I see the sun rise
I look at the colours of the clouds
And how they blend together so nicely
Like all of the flowers I gave you,
Plucked straight from the roots in my body
I write you letters in the form of songs
About missing something from my life
I look for traits of you in every person that I meet,
Your hair or your laugh or your temperament
I think about the way that everything is connected
And grows from a source of unconditional love
The trees and the earth and the stars and the rocks
And the space between us
I listen to the rain outside my window
And I hope you’re warm and dry and comfortable
Cozy under a pile of blankets and pillows
I cry and I cry and I cry for hours
And I hope I never stop feeling connected to you
